Update

This Summer must have Handbags

By  |

The new fashion season is fast approaching, and with it a whole new range of fabulous handbags and accessories to update your wardrobe. Some of the top picks if you’re looking for on-trend, high-quality pieces come from the Debenhams designer handbag range; whatever your style, there’ll be the perfect handbag for you!

Summer Handbag

One of the hottest trends for Autumn Winter 2012 is heritage – think plaid, tartan and rustic, traditional materials. Ideal for workwear, the heritage trend is easily introduced into your wardrobe with a quirky tartan bag, like the checked backpack from H! by Henry Holland. Backpacks look set to be just as popular this season as in summer, so a practical but pretty rucksack is a good investment piece. Houndstooth, the popular suit fabric, also makes an appearance in the heritage trend; why not update your accessories with a houndstooth pattern tweed purse from part of the Jasper Conran range? Team with a chunky Aran jumper and fur gilet and your casual winter wardrobe is complete.

For something a little more sophisticated, the monochrome trend of AW2012 hits all the right notes. For accessories and handbags, block black and white shades, or interesting black and white prints, are the most on-trend choices. Floozie by Frost French, known for their feminine, quirky designs, does youthful monochrome with a cross-body, polka dot bag, complete with classic gold hardware. A more grown-up version is the hand-held bowling bag in cream and black from Star by Julien Macdonald: the retro tassel and black patent trim adds a sophisticated, glamorous air. Pair with an all black or – if you dare – an all white outfit for maximum impact.

Colour blocking is set to be as big this season as during the summertime, so for your handbag opt for one of the pieces from the beautiful Betty Jackson range. With brightly coloured handles on squashy leather tote bags, or block colour bands in mustard, navy and white on structured bucket bags, picking up one of the Betty Jackson bags is a simple way to show you’re on top of this season’s trends.
