Since 2004 Donatella Versace‘s couture designs have the fashion world has missed her vibrant line and eye for glamour. Her announcement that she would be bringing Atelier Versace to Paris Fashion Week last season was met with shock and excitement within the industry. Emboldened by her success, Donatella is bringing the couture wing of her fashion empire back into the spotlight in commemoration of her brother Gianni Versace, as well as to celebrate turning 57 this year. 

One of the Italian labels first catwalk shows in eight years, the Paris Ritz showcase will be made even more poignant by the fact that the venue will be closing down for two years soon after. Donatella Versace, in making her couture, has expressed the imminent closure with nostalgia, declaring it “the end of an era”. The Ritz holds special memories for the designer, who remembers her brother’s final collection being hosted there in 1997.

The collaboration between Versace couture dresses and H&M last winter sent vibrations that are still rippling through the fashion industry. Getting everyone’s attention for what’s to come, the 15 looks were styled after her glamorous warrior theme using corsets, beads and embroidery; the embodiment of modern toughness and dubious elegance.
