Springwear Trends: Warm Knitwear and Maxi Skirts

Maxi Skirt

It’s not often when May comes around that we find ourselves still wrapped up in our coats and blazers, but I’m sure many agree with me when I say that just because the weather doesn’t want to brighten up, it doesn’t mean my wardrobe feels the same way.

Compromising Your Wardrobe

In fact, being that we have reached the spring season my inner fashionista is reluctant to continue on with the dark and dull colours of my winter clothes, and looking around I see that I’m not the only one. As the weather has slowly warmed up, I’m seeing that a lot more women are opting for long skirts instead of jeans and trousers, and cosy knitwear rather than heavy coats and blazers.

Statement Knitwear

Oversized sweaters, jumpers, and cardigans in bold and bright colours are perfect for the current weather, especially if it is patterned with vivid stripes or polka dots. Worn over jeans, leggings or skirts, this season’s knitwear is flattering as well as comfortable. Crocheted garments are even better as it will keep you warm when the temperature is down, but at the same time will prevent you from sweltering from the heat. Not to mention, with crocheted knitwear you have the option of wearing it as it is for a chic and sexy look, or with a coloured top underneath to bring a splash of fun to your outfit.

Maxi Skirts

Maxi skirts is another practical substitute for jeans and leggings. The arrival of spring always seem to bring out our feminine side and nothing reflects this better than a skirt that elongates our legs and slims out our body. This year’s maxi skirts have returned better than ever before in bright popping colours and prints, high splits, pleats and frills, and straight and asymmetrical designs. And the best thing about these skirts is that they are so versatile and flattering it’s hard to get the look wrong. In cold weathers, the length of the skirt coupled with a heavier fabric will do wonders to keep the heat in, whilst a light, breezy fabric for the warmer temperatures will bring out the romantic, summary feel to any outfit.

Although the weather doesn’t seem to be warming up quick enough for us, there’s still no reason not to dress for the spring season as long as we keep it practical, comfortable, and fashionable. So don’t forget to ditch those winter coats and heavy blazers, and invest in some knitwear and maxi skirts this spring!

Yes, I finally found out that skirts or dresses look better on me than jeans. They flatter my body structure more which I’m really happy about. Now that it’s rainy here in the Philippines, I still find maxi skirts or dresses appropriate, esp on night-outs or family gatherings. 🙂 When in school, leggings are my thing. ♥
