How to add some spice to your summer tailoring

Well-cut tailored garments flatter a woman’s curves. Nipped in waists, defined shoulders and hip skimming skirts and trousers have a woman’s best interests at heart. Women’s tailoring isn’t about being super sharp and on point. Women’s tailoring is ladylike, chic and sophisticated and symbolises bygone eras when women’s clothing was shaped around an hourglass shape. Tailored suits, jackets, coats, skirts, shorts and shirts are classic and timeless and incredibly elegant.

This summer tailoring is fitted with turbo injection. Zingy colours, Magic Eye prints and retro floral prints add meat to tailoring’s backbone. Incorporating these summery additions will definitely add some spice to your tailored look. Here are some tips on how to do it.

Play with separates

Instead of sticking to the same tried and tested two-piece suit, ditch the trousers and try a pencil skirt, high waist shorts or even a dress. Look for floral patterned shorts with scallop hems; try block colour pencil skirts in emerald, fuchsia and azure or a-line pleated skirts in lemon, lilac and caramel; be a bolder you in coloured and/or printed dress. As long as the fit is right – and you don’t work in an archaic office environment – you can get away with all kinds of colour and pattern combinations. For a more tailored look, Next does a fine range of tailored suits.

Add sass with women’s coats and jackets to complete your look

They also do a large range of women’s coats and jackets including a super-chic Floral Print Kimono, £30 that comes packed full of attitude and class. Wear this with skinny cotton chinos, platform courts and a sheer blouse for a relaxed Friday look. If you want protection from summer rain the Tailored Belted Coat, £62, is a safe bet and you’ll feel like a city-girl glamourpuss in no time.

Colour from head to toe

If you’re office is a tad on the formal side and you can’t get away with coloured sheer blouses and patterned shorts, inject colour into your footwear. A pop of colour in the form of neon platform courts or pastel wedges will add some a touch of baby spice without going for all out scary spice. Queen of style Sarah Jessica Parker shows us all how it’s done with this collection.

  1. Ah, what more can I say? as I guy, I always like to see girls who wear fashionable clothing. Girls who have a very good sense of fashion are of course attractive — it boosts their confidence though.

  2. It’s been a while since I’ve last been here.. 🙂 I’m liking your new layout, but I’m still attached with the old one.. ^^ Anyway, thanks for these fashion tips. I actually coats and cardigans to add some spice to my dull outfits.. 🙂
