What is Vaser lipo?

Vaser Lipo is a new cosmetic procedure from mya.co.uk that uses advanced technology to target stubborn areas of fat. Although, it isn’t a weight-loss solution – Vaser Lipo works best when you have already reached your ideal weight, but still have unwanted fat that is impossible to get rid of using diet and exercise. The new procedure is similar to liposuction, but Vaser Lipo uses a more focused technique and can therefore target more specific areas of the body, for example the neck, hips, knees and arms.

In comparison to liposuction, Vaser Lipo is less invasive, using ultrasound technology to break up fat cells in a gentle way, without effecting other tissues or blood cells. The fat cells are then extracted using a thin tube and a low level of suction. The whole procedure takes around two hours (quicker than Lipo), during which as much as four litres of fat can be removed. There is no need to go under anaesthetic like with traditional liposuction, with Vaser Lipo only local anaesthetic is used to numb certain areas.

There is less swelling and bruising after the Vaser procedure because it is less invasive. For the same reason, the recovery time is quick- normally two to three days compared with the seven day recovery period for normal liposuction. After the procedure, patients wear compression garments to keep the skin tight and contoured to their body’s new shape.

The new technique has been developed for people with stubborn areas of fat. Amy Scott, who has undergone the procedure, couldn’t get rid of the fat on the back of her hips, even though she worked out with a trainer and led an active lifestyle.
