Gold is made of lustrous yellow metal that is very valuable and is often used in jewelry. It is the epitome of class, elegance and status. It symbolizes a monetary standard and represents wealth and riches. Karatage (e.g.; 18k, 22k, 24k gold) indicates the purity of gold in a piece of jewelry. Pure gold is too soft for everyday wear, so it is fused with a mixture of metals such as nickel, copper as well as silver to make it sturdier.
