Choosing the Perfect Engagement Ring
Previously, I blogged about marriage proposals, and the key ingredients for crafting a meaningful and beautiful proposal. But just like marriage proposals, it’s not a case of one type of size or style of engagement ring fitting all, as everyone has different tastes.
The Perfect Engagement Ring
So if you’ve got over the first hurdle but are stuck with too much choice when it comes to the ring itself, here is a quick guide to engagement rings for 2014.
The Shape of the Diamond
If there’s one type of engagement ring that shows no signs of its popularity waning, then it’s the diamond engagement ring. The look of diamond engagement rings vary according to the shape of the diamond. One of the most enduring styles is the round, closely followed by the emerald and the asscher cut diamonds. However, recent high-profile engagements, such as the recent engagement of Gabrielle Union and Dwayne Wade have showcased the beauty of more contemporary shapes, such as the impressive cushion cut diamond, which cost Wade a cool one million dollars.
Types of Stone
Of course, you don’t have to be a millionaire to get engaged, and while engagement rings come in with many different types of stone, diamond doesn’t have to be one of them. In fact, in recent years, more and more couples have opted to do something a little bit different with their engagement rings, and some have opted to make them more personal by adding unique touches, such as their birthstone. Finding out what your partner’s birthstone is won’t take long, just Google the month of their birth and you can find this information fairly quickly. Birthstone engagement rings are known to be very striking and unique, and they can also be very colourful.
While Gabrielle Union’s one million dollar engagement ring may be the talk of the town, other celebrities have chosen to set their own trends by going for something completely different. Olivia Wilde’s engagement ring features a round cut diamond with an emerald halo, which is set in gold, while Scarlett Johansson is currently sporting an impressive Art Deco ring featuring three round cut diamonds set in a rectangular square setting, with yet more diamonds!
Choosing engagement rings doesn’t have to be stressful or difficult. Whether you’re selecting a ring for a loved one or making the decision together, take your time, make sure you get the best quality for your money and most importantly, have fun!
